The Texas Orthotics & Prosthetics Jurisprudence Examination content is based on the state and federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to the practice of orthotics and prosthetics.
Initial licensure applicants must submit proof of completing the jurisprudence examination at the time they submit their application for a license or registration.
Renewal applicants (except for Students, Temporaries and Facilities) must complete the Jurisprudence Exam every other renewal. You will need the date your license was initially issued; this date can be found using TDLR's Online Licensing Services.
The fee for the jurisprudence exam is $34, and the exam will be administered by eStrategy Solutions, Inc. Fees are payable to eStrategy Solutions, Inc.
Your exam must be completed within 30 days of registering for the exam. After 30 days, your fee and registration will expire and your exam will be invalidated. To take the jurisprudence exam again, you will need to re-register and pay a new fee.
Additionally, the jurisprudence examination must have been completed no more than six months prior to the application date.
Take the Exam
The written theory examination is a national exam administered by the American Board of Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics (ABC).
After submitting an application to TDLR for initial licensure or student registration, your credentials will be reviewed by TDLR staff. Upon approval, you will be receive notification from ABC, informing you of your eligibility to take the exam and what your next steps are. Applicable fees are paid directly to ABC.
A registration form will be mailed to you at least 30 days before a scheduled examination. You will need to complete the registration form and return it as indicated on the form by the established deadline.
